The Australian National University (ANU) will contribute to six projects funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) grants.

The ARC LIEF grants have allocated more than $7 million to these joint ventures, which encompass a wide range of disciplines, including photonics, materials science, chemical engineering, nanotechnology, and the study of materials under extreme conditions. These initiatives align with the national research priorities and showcase the university's dedication to addressing complex and pressing global challenges.

ANU is a partner on the following projects:

  1. The University of New South Wales - Ultrafast Infrared Spectroscopy Facility, $762,800

ANU leads: Dr Daria Smirnova/Professor Dragomir Neshev (ANU College of Science)

  1. The University of Sydney - Dedicated High-throughput 3D-Electron Diffractometer, $1,341,398

ANU lead: Professor Valeska Ting (ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics)

  1. Monash University - Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope for Beam-Sensitive Materials, $1,900,000

ANU leads: Professor Yun Liu/Professor Jodie Bradby (ANU College of Science)

  1. Western Sydney University - Australian Advanced Metabolic Signal Discovery, and Imaging Platform, $931,950

ANU leads: Professor Ulrike Mathesius/Associate Professor Maja Adamska/ Professor Ruth Arkell/ Professor Barry Pogson/ Professor Ute Roessner (ANU College of Science)

  1. The University of New South Wales - Quantum microscopy facility for ultrasensitive nanoscale magnetic imaging, $1,100,000

ANU lead: Professor Yuerui Lu (ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics)

  1. The University of New South Wales - Thermophysical Property Analysers for Materials under Extreme Environments, $1,300,000

ANU lead: Associate Professor Alexey Glushenkov (ANU College of Science)
