Options for partnering

Decades of experience partnering with organisations of every kind has shown us that we can do so much more together than we can apart.

Your partnering journey with ANU starts with one conversation. First, we want to understand who you are and what you need. And then we’ll get to work. Our team will reach back into their extensive multi-disciplinary networks at ANU to connect you and your business with our researchers and the expertise you need. With a dedicated member of our team to guide you along the process, we’ll explore with you where we can go – together.

Options for partnering

Collaborate

Bringing perspectives and ideas together makes innovation more alive, more powerful and more valuable. So, too, collaboration makes change: at the collision of ideas something new is created.

The well-worn myth that universities don’t work well with industry and government is long gone. We find that very often, our industry partners share the same challenges, the same aspirations and the same drive to develop the next generation of researchers and innovators, which is why we offer programs that bring students into your organisation or business to gain invaluable practical knowledge and solve the problems you face.

But our first task is always to understand what your needs are.

Understanding what you need is the first step to designing an approach to research collaboration. We welcome you to open the conversation with one of our friendly Business Development Managers.

Commercialise

It is a little known fact that Canberra has been ranked in the top 5 of the world’s most innovative cities* and in the top 5 of the world’s smartest cities*. There is a lot happening here and ANU is a major part of this thriving innovation ecosystem. Many ANU researchers – including our Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation  -  have developed start-up and spin-out companies and the University routinely supports commercialisation and licencing of research technologies to external partners.

Our searchable Technology Marketplace offers a diverse range of technologies with opportunities for collaboration, investment and licensing. For more details or to discuss next steps, simply contact the team member listed at the bottom of each technology’s page - we’d love to hear from you.

Co-locate

Paradigm-changing research doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Great ideas are essential, but it’s also about connection: with the ANU community and the people in it dedicated to bettering our world through research. It’s about being where it all happens, where the very walls hum with innovation and possibility.

This is where the Shine-Dalgarno sequence was developed, where our researchers are working with Indigenous communities to bring Old People home and where our partners are innovating to deliver impact like climate repair through infinite recycling. And these are just a couple of examples among thousands of incredible research projects taking place.

There are opportunities for our partners to co-locate with us on our stunning Acton, ACT campus. Access to world-class facilities and equipment are clear benefit of co-location, but it is also about undertaking your R&D within a community of researchers and students who are tackling some of the world’s big challenges.

Talk to one of our team about co-location at ANU.

Work with HDR students

Work with HDR students

Working with an ANU HDR student is an exciting opportunity to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges facing your business. Through their studies at the ANU, HDR students build qualities fundamental for innovation: advanced and complex knowledge of a specialised field, the highest level of critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret, apply and transmit that knowledge.
